More than 40 members of an organisation on Monday protested the "misuse" of anti-dowry laws and claimed their misuse had become a threat to marriages.

The volunteers of "498a.Org" staged a sit-in at Shahid Samarak in Jaipur.

Nishant Kumar, one of the founder member of 498a.Org of city unit, said "All the harassed husbands of anti-dowry laws are members of our voluntary organisation and we are into a campaign to save the Indian family."

He claimed there were 30 victimised husbands in the city.

They displayed placards bearing the slogan jab maango samanta ka adhikar, dena seekho pati ko pyaar (whenever you demand right to equality, learn to give love to your husband).

Kumar said members of the group held meetings every Sunday to counsel the "affected".

"Today the issue of misuse of laws has become a real threat to the sustainability and existance of institution of marriage in Indian society. I suggest that this problem can be controlled by proactive participation and initiatve by senior citizens and social workers of the society," he said.
